The weather in Almonte couldn’t have been an more perfect. Sunny with cloudy periods, moderate humidity, and a cool breeze in the shade. This year, participants were not rained off the field during massed bands!
Rob Roy had a fairly good showing as did the soloists.

Rain seems to be a common theme These days! Unfortunately only the solo competitions completed on Saturday Morning. The Pipe band competitions scheduled for the afternoon had to be cancelled due to severe thunderstorms complete with lightning and lots of thunder. The volume of rain did not disappoint.

Montreal Highland Games

The Montreal Highland games was afflicted by the same weather malady as the previous day’s Glengary Highland Games. The weather situation was tenuous until just after the solo competitions concluded. Then, as massed bands were forming up, the skies poured forth with unmitigated moisture. Despite these challenging conditions, the Rob Roy Pipe Band went on to win grade 4. Congratulations on a well played event.

Glengary Highland Games

The Glengary Highland Games in Maxville was a rather wet affair this year. The games started with solo events on Friday with hot sunny weather. However, the band competition, held on the following Saturday, deteriorated from hot and humid to torrential rains, lightning and high winds. To make matters worse, the end of day massed bands had to be cancelled due to inclement weather.

Initially, the weather held out as Rob Roy won the qualifier for Grade 4 Flight B. The weather then turned for the worse and the band marched in to the final as the rains began.

Despite the bad weather, the event was graced by the meeting of many old friends and Rob Roy Alumni.
